Understanding ProGuard Tank Protection and How It Safeguards Your Home
Common Issue
Hassle-free Solution
What does Underground Oil Tank Coverage include?
ProGuard's Underground Oil Tank Coverage helps protect your critical home system from expensive leaks and messy failures. Our plan covers:
- Support for claims management and cleanup coordination
- Help with tank replacements
- Groundwater contamination
What is a voluntary pull?
Voluntary Pull; also referred to as voluntary tank removal, replacement, or abandonment; means taking your fuel oil tank out of service — whether to inspect it, replace it with a new one, or permanently remove it. This must be done without prior knowledge of a leak or issue with the tank. This coverage is available after you’ve had a Service Agreement for at least 12 consecutive months. This option helps homeowners avoid environmental damage and can be beneficial when planning to sell a home or upgrade their system.
What is no voluntary pull protection?
No voluntary pull protection means a homeowner waives the option to remove an underground tank voluntarily. The tank can then only be removed if a suspected release is detected.
What are the requirements to have my tank removed?
To qualify for removal under voluntary pull protection:
- A new oil tank must be installed, connected, and ready for use.
- ProGuard must be notified at least 3 business days before scheduling removal.
- An approved ProGuard contractor must complete the removal or abandonment.
- A $500 service fee, the cost associated with onsite representation and monitoring, must be paid.
If there is a leak, the $500 fee goes toward the $3,500 deductible, with the remaining $3,000 balance due before cleanup begins.
My tank is in my basement. Is it an Underground or Aboveground Tank?
Underground Tanks are buried; Aboveground Tanks include those in basements and below the main level of your home. If you're unsure, call us at (888) 354-0677!
