About Us

ProGuard was founded in 1999 by a small team with backgrounds in insurance and home services. Today, we support thousands of homeowners across the country. We’ve kept our focus on making coverage easier to navigate, quicker to use, and more responsive when it matters most.

At ProGuard, we don’t believe homeowners should have to shoulder the fallout of aging systems alone. Our role is to offer not just coverage, but clarity that turns a looming threat into something manageable. We’re here to make protection feel practical, human, and built to last.

ProGuard's History of Commitment

Serving your communities since 1999…

ProGuard has been offering coverage for oil tanks and septic systems for over a quarter of a century. Though we recently changed our name from Powderhorn Agency to ProGuard, our customers will continue to be protected by the same reliable plans and expert service they’ve trusted for years.

Originally founded as a family-owned business, we introduced ProGuard as a groundbreaking residential cleanup and replacement program for heating oil tanks. Since then, we’ve protected over 70k residential customers across the U.S. by offering specialized coverage that fills the gaps in standard homeowners insurance policies.

Backed by A.M. Best “A” rated providers, ProGuard ensures homeowners have reliable protection for their heating equipment, oil tanks, and septic systems – before small problems become costly disasters.
